Ascended – The federal army begins repatriation flights

Date:

As already announced, the federal army will begin its repatriation campaign for Austrians from Israel at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The planned departure time will probably be postponed for a short time. A Hercules transport plane takes off from Hörsching air base in Upper Austria to Cyprus.

With two crews, including technicians and soldiers from the combat command and psychological counselors – about ten people in total – the Hercules C-130 will take off from Hörsching on Wednesday at 10:30 am and land at Paphos Airport in Cyprus in the early afternoon.

Maximum 60 passengers per flight
From Cyprus, with a capacity for up to 60 passengers, Austrians will be brought in from Israel in the first five days. The transport plane will take those who want to leave the country to Cyprus. Then we continue with scheduled flights.

Numerous flights cancelled
Due to the extremely tense and unstable security situation in Israel, numerous airlines have suspended their flights to Israel until further notice for security reasons. 150 Austrians were waiting for an evacuation flight in Israel on Tuesday, Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner (ÖVP) reported on Tuesday afternoon at Hörsching air base.

About 8,000 Austrians live in Israel; according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, more than 200 were registered as travelers when the war started on Saturday.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on all Austrians who wish to take advantage of the offer to contact the Austrian Embassy in Tel Aviv by email and provide their contact details at tel-aviv-ob@bmeia.gv.at allow .
