Just a few days after a record-breaking skydive, a 104-year-old American woman died. Dorothy Hoffner died “peacefully in her sleep” on the night of Sunday to Monday, the Chicago Sun Times newspaper reports. She referred to the woman’s relatives.
According to the New York Times, the exact cause of death has yet to be determined. About a week earlier, on October 1, the senior woman had broken the world record as the world’s oldest female skydiver. Video showed the 104-year-old walking with her walker to an airport near Chicago – in good spirits and full of anticipation.
‘Age is just a number’
“Age is just a number,” she said. Hoffner was carried up the stairs into the plane and jumped from 4,100 meters with experienced tandem jumper Derek Baxter. Photos showed the elderly person very happy. “It was nice and peaceful,” she said.
Many friends congratulated her on the catwalk. Now the 104-year-old, who would have celebrated her next birthday in December, has died. She last lived in a retirement home and is said to have had great fun jumping out of a plane at the age of 100.
