Lottery fever in the US again: the PowerBall lottery jackpot has grown to an incredible $1.73 billion (equivalent to €1.6 billion) (see video above). The next chance to win the jackpot is on Wednesday evening (local time, Thursday evening CET). Austrians can also participate in the draw.
According to NBC News, not a single participant in the game had guessed the six correct numbers on Monday. The result: winnings in Wednesday’s drawing rose from $1.57 to $1.73 billion.
Second highest jackpot in PowerBall history
The jackpot amount has increased since July, the last time someone won the top prize in the PowerBall lottery game, according to NBC News. The odds of winning if all six numbers are correct are one in 292.2 million. If the jackpot is won on Thursday, it would be the second-largest prize ever won in PowerBall. Last year, the world record jackpot of $2.04 billion was won in California.
