New War Cabinet – Netanyahu: Every Hamas member is a dead man

Date:

Following the massive attack by Hamas, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened to kill all members of the radical Islamic Palestinian organization. “Hamas, that is the Islamic State, and we will crush and destroy them as the world destroyed the Islamic State,” Netanyahu said Wednesday evening in his first speech to members of the new so-called war cabinet.

Every “member of Hamas is a dead man,” he said. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant agreed with the head of government that Israel would “wipe Hamas off the face of the earth.”

Gaza Strip under constant fire
Hamas launched a major attack on Israel on Saturday, prompting the Israeli army to mobilize tens of thousands of soldiers and launch sustained fire into the Gaza Strip. According to preliminary information, the attackers killed more than 1,200 people in Israel. According to the Israeli army, 150 people have been kidnapped by Hamas fighters and taken to the Gaza Strip. So far, more than 1,000 deaths have been reported there as a result of Israeli retaliatory attacks.

Following the most serious attack on Israel since its founding 75 years ago, Netanyahu and opposition politician Benny Gantz agreed on Wednesday to a joint “emergency government and war cabinet,” as they announced in a joint statement (see video above). The three-member war cabinet would include Netanyahu, Gantz and Gallant.

“Put aside differences”
In the next emergency government, which will be sworn in on Thursday afternoon, Netanyahu wants to “put aside all differences with opposition politician Gantz.” The fate of the country is at stake. The Islamist Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, has beheaded people, raped women and burned people alive in its attacks on Israel, Netanyahu said. He also emphasized that American support is crucial to Israel’s fight against the Islamic organization.

Opposition politician Benny Gantz emphasized that the partnership would lead the country to victory. “There is a time for peace and a time for war – now is the time for war.” Experts believe that a broad coalition is needed to implement far-reaching military and political decisions in the coming days.

Society has been deeply divided until now
Until the terrorist attack, government and opposition were quite incompatible. Since the beginning of the year, a controversial judicial restructuring that brings out Netanyahu’s right-wing religious government has divided society. There were repeated mass protests in the country.
