In Mandling a driver parked his car on the track on Monday. The 80-year-old man was injured in the accident. Train traffic was interrupted for about an hour.
For an unknown reason, the 80-year-old’s car left the road on Monday morning in Mandling, which is part of both Radstadt (Pongau) and Schladming (Styria). The car crossed the oncoming traffic and then rolled down an adjacent embankment. Finally the car came to a stop on the track.
The man from Schladming suffered undetermined injuries, but was able to free himself from the car. Train traffic was immediately stopped. After emergency services arrived, the 80-year-old was taken to the clinic in Schladming by the Red Cross.
An alcohol test conducted for the man was negative. A towing service removed the car from the track. After about an hour the trains could run again.
