Investigations have been launched against three people following the tragic bus crash in Mestre near Venice, which killed 21 people and injured 18 others.
According to information from the newspaper Il Gazzettino (Thursday’s edition), these are the director of the company that owned the bus in question, as well as two officials from the municipality of Venice responsible for road maintenance.
Venetian prosecutor Laura Cameli accuses the three people of negligent homicide and serious bodily harm in traffic. They will be interviewed soon.

The 21 fatalities were all foreigners, apart from the Italian bus driver who also died.
Thirteen injured people are still in hospitals in the northern Italian region of Veneto. Six of them are still in intensive care. Two patients are still in life-threatening condition. Hundreds of people took part in a prayer vigil for the victims, and the Pope also commemorated the dead.
