Fatal traffic accident in Styria! A 23-year-old pedestrian from the Murtal was hit by a car at night in Niederwölz and died at the scene of the accident.
After a large-scale manhunt, the Scheifling police station was now able to track down a suspected driver (25).
Pedestrian hit from behind
The 23-year-old from Murtal attended an event in the Murau district. At around 2.45 am he walked along the B75 towards Oberwölz. He was probably hit from behind by the car of an initially unknown driver. All rescue services (rescue services, emergency doctor, fire brigade) could no longer help the young man. He died at the scene of the accident.
Search with multiple police patrols
Several police patrols searched all night for the driver involved in the accident. In the early hours of the morning, a 25-year-old from Murau was finally located. Traces on his vehicle indicate that he was involved in an accident.
Due to the suspect’s heavy intoxication, further investigation by the Scheifling police station is currently being hampered. The relatives are cared for by a crisis intervention team.
