Emergency services had to respond in the early morning hours to fight a straw fire in an open-air warehouse on Markt Allhau. The firefighting measures posed a major challenge.
It is still unclear why the fire broke out in the company’s outdoor storage area. The fire brigades of Markt Allhau and Buchschachen were alerted on Sunday morning because straw bales started burning.
Targeted removal
Fortunately, extensive extinguishing action prevented the fire from spreading to the surrounding straw. The bales were taken to a meadow and distributed with a wheel loader to make fire-fighting easier for the Florianis. Using thermal imaging cameras, embers were discovered and extinguished.
More than 30 Florianis deployed
The work continued until the afternoon. In total, more than 30 people with a total of seven vehicles were present, as well as the police and a vehicle from Burgenland Energie.
