The three CAF Beasain pavilions closed in August due to asbestos will reopen this Monday, after carrying out relevant inspections and cleaning work. The return to work will take place gradually.
Halls 7, 8 and 9 of the Beasain factory have remained closed for more than a month after measurements in August showed the amount of asbestos was above the permitted level. As explained by the business committee, at least 62 of the 68 measurements taken on Tuesday, October 3, detected normal levels, “similar to the values that would be obtained by an environmental measurement on the street.”
Last week, Osalan and those responsible for prevention and CAF management visited the pavilions. The cleaning companies ISS, Rossy and Garbilan then cleaned the inactive ships. The elements that had to be thrown away have also been replaced with new material.
ELA has explained that personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided to anyone who requests it.
