In just under a year, the crowd-puller Airpower24 will take place again in Zeltweg, Styria – and planning is in full swing. The focus is on improving the transport concept: in 2022 there were major disruptions at Zeltweg train station when tens of thousands of visitors left the area at the same time.
“Next year,” says head of planning Brigadier General Prieler, “we want to relieve the pressure on Zeltweg train station. Visitors are transported by bus via Judenburg and Knittelfeld. The rail platform on Zeltweg is being expanded.”
In addition, the event will take place longer in 2024: instead of the last formations at 5 p.m., the Airpower ends at 7 p.m. Visitors are expected to postpone their departure longer.
Mega display with 25 aircraft
Regarding the demonstrations, we are currently in discussions with partner countries. A mega display with 25 aircraft of different types from the federal army is already ready. In addition, new acquisitions of the armed forces such as the C-390 or the AW-169 “Lion” will fly for the public.
“I already feel a special tingling feeling when I think about air power,” Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner said on the sidelines of the presentation on Monday.
