A man from Poland fell from the window of a guest house in southern Styria on Tuesday evening. The 30-year-old may have been sleepwalking: he fell eight to nine meters into the depths. The Pole was injured in the crash in a meadow, but was able to call for help himself.
A neighbor heard the man’s screams in the middle of the night and alerted rescuers and the landlord. The worker was flown to the LKH Graz by the crew of the ÖAMTC rescue helicopter C17, police said.
With colleagues in South Styria
The Pole is in southern Styria with colleagues because they are laying fiber optic cables there. The men stay in a guest house in Gamlitz (Leibnitz district), where the 30-year-old has a room on the top floor.
Pole sleepwalked occasionally
The neighbor heard the cries for help shortly before midnight around 11:40 p.m. The man must have fallen from the top floor shortly before. Because there are no direct witnesses to the fall and the injured person has not yet been interviewed, the reason is not yet completely clear. However, his colleagues said he occasionally sleepwalked and usually had no memory of it the next day.
