Whether it was due to excessive speed or a driving error: a 21-year-old from Villach drove his car too far to the left in a right bend in Villach-Magdalen. A young man from Klagenfurt was driving in the opposite lane.
The two cars collided around 4 p.m. and the 20-year-old Klagenfurter resident’s car was thrown into the ditch by the force of the impact. “The man from Klagenfurt suffered serious injuries and was trapped,” the Carinthian police said. A paramedic who happened to pass by, and a member of the Villach main fire station, who was also privately on site, were already treating the young man trapped in the car.
“After further treatment by the Red Cross emergency doctor, who arrived shortly afterwards, the driver’s door was opened using the heavy hydraulic rescue equipment of the recovery vehicle and completely removed,” reports Chief Fire Inspector Martin Regenfelder, deputy commander of the Villach main fire station. “The injured man was then rescued from the passenger compartment with the help of a so-called backboard and taken to the Villach LKH by the Arbeiter Samariter Bund with injuries of an undetermined nature.”
The young man from Villach was only slightly injured in the serious accident, but had to be taken to the regional hospital in Villach. An alcohol test was carried out on both, but it was negative. Due to the accident, several police patrols, an emergency doctor, two ambulances and the HFW Villach with 20 men and four vehicles were present. They were supported by the FF Vassach and the FF St. Magadalen.
