In Scotland, a man kidnapped a girl on her way to school. He then sexually abused the primary school child several times at his home. The 53-year-old was due to appear in court in Edinburgh on Wednesday after previously pleading guilty to several charges.
These included sexual assault, possession of child abuse images and viewing pornography with a child under 13. Judge Paul Arthurson spoke of “horrific crimes” that were the “realization of every parent’s worst nightmare.” The convicted man, a father of three who lives alone, offered a girl a lift on her way to school in February. Because the child thought he was a woman, she thought he was harmless and got into the car with the perpetrator.
According to his own statements, the 53-year-old is undergoing a gender transition, but according to the police he uses male pronouns. The man took the child to his home, where he sexually abused her several times. While he slept, the girl alerted the police via landline. On Wednesday, the sex offender pleaded guilty in an Edinburgh court and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Transsexual perpetrators
The treatment of transsexual offenders has sparked heated debate in Scotland. The reason was the case of a trans woman who raped two women before her sex change and was initially placed in a women’s prison. The regulations were subsequently changed so that sex offenders are now incarcerated based on their biological sex.
