Tragic traffic accident Wednesday morning on the Arlberg highway in Tyrol. There, a car collided head-on with a truck, leaving only the driver of the car dead. The road was closed for several hours.
Shortly after 9:30 am an accident took place between the Lötzgalerie and the Perjentunnel. For unknown reasons, a 42-year-old Austrian swerved into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a truck, seriously damaging both vehicles. The driver of the car was trapped in the car and could only be rescued from the wreckage. The Polish truck driver (54) was taken to Zams Hospital with minor injuries.
S16 locked for hours
The Landeck and Zams fire departments were on duty. Traffic had to be diverted from the S16. The road between Landeck and Zams was closed in both directions until around 1pm and there were traffic jams in the wider Landeck area.
