What a night! In Maishofen (Salzburg), the alarm system of telecom company Hirschcom went off around 4 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Owner Josef Hirschbichler saw the burglars in the act. The police immediately arrived on the scene and are now looking for the perpetrators.
“We have never had a burglary in fifteen years. But now it has also affected us,” says Josef Hirschbichler. The head of Hirschcom Telecommunications and IT in Maishofen and his store manager received the alarm at 3:50 am.
The system in the store did not function properly and the perpetrators were already in the home: “They initially spied on the location for an hour and decided to enter the building through the Holleis company. “They first broke into the back entrance of the Holleis company and then broke through the progress of the building to get to the desired Hirschcom window,” Hirschbichler describes.
Burglars burst through the store
When the alarm went off, he and the store manager drove to Maishofen. Just four minutes later, the police arrived at the burglary with six patrol cars, praises the Pinzgauer. That was “really cool”. In the video, the entrepreneur saw the three perpetrators running through the store after the alarm went off.
They collected what they could: 50 iPhones and Samsung mobile phones worth 20,000 euros. Together with the damaged doors and window, the damage amounts to 40,000 euros. Without the safety measures this would have been much higher, says the company boss.
“Keep the Lights On”
He warns: “Now in dark times it is better to leave the lights on in stores.” The camera images and any DNA traces can now help track down the burglars. The employees also took the burglary with a touch of humor, says Hirschbichler: “A burglar stepped in cow manure while trying to escape. So if someone smells like cow manure, take a good look at him or her, we joked today.”
