Low art value – Berlusconi children want to get rid of erotic works

Date:

The children of the deceased Italian former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi want to get rid of his art collection. Among the 25,000 images and images there are also several erotic works. However, the art value is said to be low, the daily newspaper ‘La Repubblica’ reported.

According to the report, this is also the reason why Berlusconi’s five children want to part with the photos. The collection is currently stored in a 4,500 square meter warehouse near Berlusconi’s residence in Arcore, near Milan. The family must pay 800,000 euros in rent annually.

According to La Repubblica, the former prime minister is said to have spent twenty million euros on art in just a few years. However, he paid more attention to quantity than quality. “Of the 25,000 paintings, only six or seven are really interesting,” said Vittorio Sgarbi, Italy’s secretary of state for culture. He is considered one of the most prestigious art experts in the neighboring country.

The photos come from many of Berlusconi’s visits abroad, for example to cities such as Paris, Venice, Rome and Naples, which the politician particularly loved.

Purchased through retail channels
Nude women and paintings of Our Lady are also part of the collection. Many pieces are said to have been purchased through retail channels. In addition to the rental of the warehouse, there is also moth damage to photo frames. Disinfection is also expensive. It is still unclear what will happen to the images. This way, the less valuable objects could be burned. “I know that destroying these paintings would not be a crime on an artistic level,” Sgarbi said.

Berlusconi’s two eldest children also inherited most of the family business (see video above).
