The television channel MTV has canceled the Europe Music Awards due to the war in the Middle East. The awards ceremony in Paris would have been on November 5. Organizers explained that now is not the time for a global celebration.
“Given the thousands of deaths, it is a moment of mourning,” the team said on Thursday. The MTV Europe Music Awards are presented annually to musicians from all over the world. This time they would be handed over in Paris on November 5. The broadcaster announced the cancellation on X (formerly Twitter).

“Be very careful”
“Given the catastrophic events in Israel and the Gaza Strip, this does not feel like a moment for global celebration,” the report said, among other things. Organizers justified this move not only with fatalities, but also with concerns for the safety of thousands of employees, crew members, artists, fans and partners. They would come from all parts of the world.
Highest terror alert level
The program included performances by DJ David Guetta and the band Thirty Seconds to Mars. Since the fatal attack by a jihadist on a teacher in northern France, the country has been on the highest of three terror alert levels. There are up to 7,000 soldiers spread across the country. Here too, tensions are based on the war between the Israeli army and the terrorist organization Hamas.
The event may not be moved, i.e. may not be held again until next year.
