According to the organization, the freed persons are “mother and daughter”, namely: Judith and Natalie Raanan, from Evanston, outside Chicago. Both were kidnapped by the Palestinian organization that administers Gaza during the attack on Israeli territory on October 7, while they were in the Nahal Oz kibbutz.

Hamas sources explained to EFE that they worked with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to hand over the two hostages to the organization and ensured that both reached Israeli territory. “On our part, it is a clear humanitarian step to demonstrate that our conflict is only with Israel,” he noted.

The Israeli military estimates that Hamas is still holding about 200 hostages.

For his part, the President of the United States, Joe Bidensaid Friday that he is confident that the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and the Gaza Strip will open in the next 24 or 48 hours to allow the entry of 20 trucks carrying humanitarian aid for the Palestinian enclave.
