Late on Sunday afternoon in the Tyrolean Oberland, an accident that was anything but ordinary occurred: a 49-year-old resident lost control of his car in Fiss (Landeck district) and crashed into the rails of a summer toboggan run. The driver was injured and the alcohol test was positive.
The spectacular and especially strange accident happened around 4:45 p.m. The 49-year-old was driving his car downhill on the Fiss cable car when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle. The car then left the road to the left.
There are currently no tobogganers on the road
“The car then hit the rails of the summer toboggan run, which ran about seven meters next to the road,” police said. A big blessing in disguise was that there were no tobogganers on the track at the time.
Injured motorist taken to hospital
The driver himself was injured and had to be treated at Zams Hospital. “An alcohol test on the driver was positive. His driver’s license has been confiscated,” investigators said. Appropriate announcements will be made after investigations are completed.
