Arrest in Linz – Israeli flag torn from poles: students arrested

Manhunt success for Linz police: On Sunday evening, after a pro-Palestinian demonstration in Linz’s main square, a hanging Israeli flag was taken down by a youth and another stepped on it. Two suspects were arrested on Monday morning. They were arrested at school.

According to information from “Krone”, the main suspect is a 14-year-old Syrian. On Sunday he rode his bicycle to the Israeli flag in front of Linz’s old town hall and violently broke it down – the “Krone” also has video evidence of the incident.

Search for third suspect
A second suspected perpetrator – 15 years old – also has a migration background. Both are no strangers to the Linz police. “Both were arrested at school this morning,” Karl Pogutter, police commander of the city of Linz, said on Monday.

A third perpetrator, who dragged the flag with his feet on the ground, is still being sought.
