A van and an SUV collided head-on on the B311 near St. Johann (Salzburg) on Tuesday afternoon. The driver of the van was trapped in his vehicle and the fire brigade had to be called.
At 3.37 pm the fire brigade was alerted by a siren to a serious traffic accident in which a person was trapped on the B311. The driver of the van was trapped in the vehicle.
Driver seriously injured
Using hydraulic rescue equipment and a winch, the Floriani were able to free the seriously injured man. According to the Red Cross, two other people were injured in the accident.
Total closure of the federal highway
After the seriously injured driver was handed over to the rescue team, further emergency measures were required, such as securing spilled assets and preparing the accident vehicles for removal by a towing company.
Extensive traffic congestion
There were major traffic delays throughout the city during the clean-up and accident investigation by police.
