Since 2018, a thief has repeatedly visited places of worship in the Lienzer Valley in East Tyrol and emptied the offering coffins there. The perpetrator has now been identified. However, he didn’t take much with him.
A lot of effort for little return, you might say casually. The attempt was made by a 52-year-old who has now been investigated by the police in East Tyrol. The man is accused of emptying the offering boxes in three parish churches a total of 24 times since 2018.
The suspect confessed to the facts
According to investigators, the suspect also admitted to the crimes during interrogation. However, the amount of loot was relatively modest. The police speak of a mid-three-digit euro amount, i.e. around 500 euros. The suspect is being reported.
