The doctors at the accident hospital in Salzburg had done their best for days. But unfortunately the 43-year-old Slovak could no longer be taken out of danger. He died from his serious injuries on Wednesday morning.
The Slovak (43), who – as reported – was buried in a construction site in Palting, has now died. Nine days after the rescue, when the worker was buried up to his head in earth and was rescued by an excavator, the doctors of UKH Salzburg unfortunately had to give up the fight.
The bottom had come loose
The tragic industrial accident occurred on October 16, shortly after noon. The 43-year-old was doing excavation work with three colleagues.
When one of the four workers climbed into the shaft to lubricate the seal and then inserted the pipe into the designated hole, the earth came loose and fell on the Slovaks standing outside the shaft. In addition, a pipe burst, causing the hole in the ground to fill with water.
First resuscitated
The 43-year-old was pulled out of the hole by his three colleagues and a helper from the volunteer fire brigade using an excavator, resuscitated by the Mattsee Red Cross and the emergency doctor and, after first aid, taken by helicopter to the LKH Salzburg.
