Nearly a quarter of a century ago, he never returned to his cell after his release. Now the man has changed his mind. He was taken to a police station in Salzburg.

The Salzburg police had to deal with an unusual case on Tuesday afternoon. A 47-year-old man entered an office in the city of Salzburg and turned himself in. And that’s 23 years after he used a prison exit to escape.

In 2000, property crimes resulted in 15 months in prison
The Viennese was sentenced to 15 months in prison for property crime. He served the first half in Leoben prison. The prisoner told police that he had been working in Germany since then.

According to his statements, he worked in the catering industry in Brandenburg. The Viennese now starts the rest of his prison sentence.
