Not just “peasants” – Tyrolean advertising: several millions, several oops

Tirol Werbe has a considerable annual budget. The ‘farmer video’ is not the first place to raise eyebrows. Memories of a Krampus drinking oat milk instead of local cow’s milk come to mind. According to information from the “Krone”, a crisis meeting will take place soon.

“The whole country is ashamed of this family.” That was the headline in the German newspaper Bild, which was also aware of the latest Tyrolean advertising hoops. As reported, a video “accidentally” went online showing a farming family in the mountain idyll. The commercial was removed shortly afterwards. Even though in this specific case it was a suggestion from an agency, such productions cost money.

More than 25 million euros budget
The “Krone” took a closer look at Tirol Werbe’s budget and staff. The 2023 activity report of the Habitat Tirol Group was sent to the editors from an anonymous source. This also includes Tirol Werbe. Last year it therefore had an amount of approximately 25.2 million euros. The money was used for personnel costs (5.1 million euros), administrative costs (815,000 euros) and services (19.3 million euros).

Tirol Werbe has almost 90 employees. Approximately 25.2 million euros was also available in 2022.

This is not the first mistake since Seiler came to power
Karin Seiler has been leading the fate of Tirol Advertising since May 1, 2022. It could be purely a coincidence, but since she came to power, there have been two other whoops besides the ‘burp video’. At the beginning of October 2022, it was announced that Tirol Werbe was reconsidering its sponsorship with the ÖSV. The reason: it was only partially successful in attracting more guests to Tyrol.

But in mid-November they withdrew and signed a contract extension until 2028. “In good discussions with the ÖSV, we were able to expand the proven cooperation with new contractual content. This opens up new opportunities for us to reach potential Tyrolean holidaymakers and make them enthusiastic about our beautiful holiday destination all year round,” says Karin Seiler.

Memories of video with oat milk and Krampus
In the same month, a deliberately released promotional video caused a stir. It shows a Krampus in a hut ordering a latte macchiato with oat milk. Tyrolean farmers in particular were angry because no cow’s milk was given. Tyrolean LK president Josef Hechenberger saw this as “an insult”.

According to information from the “Krone”, State Councilor for Economic Affairs Mario Gerber (ÖVP) does not want to return to the agenda after this misstep by Tirol Advertising, but instead wants to convene a crisis meeting in the coming days at which Tacheles will be discussed.
