Ten days after the so-called storm of the century in Spain, 78 people are still missing. While clean-up efforts are in full swing in the Valencia region, heavy rainfall has now caused flooding in Catalonia.
In the fishing and artists’ village of Cadaqués, the water washed about thirty vehicles into the river. Many came to a stop in the river in front of a bridge stacked on top of each other, Spanish media reported. It rained heavily on the island of Mallorca on Thursday. The Spanish weather service Aemet has not issued a severe weather warning for Friday.
In Valencia, a week ago on Tuesday, more rain fell in some cities than normal in a whole year. The sun has been shining in the disaster area for days now. The clean-up work is in full swing. 75 locations were affected, many of which were still covered in mud. Some buildings are inaccessible because the entrances are blocked by destroyed cars and household goods.

Bodies washed up in the Mediterranean?
At least 219 people died in the storms, including 211 in the Valencia region alone. According to the government, 78 people are still missing. However, it must be taken into account that 40 of the recovered bodies have not yet been identified. In addition, some of them may have ended up in the Mediterranean Sea.
