Where has my house gone? A demolition company in the US took action when the owner was not present. Now she is pushing for new construction or compensation.
American Susan Hodgson almost lost her phone when she received a call from her neighbor while on holiday. “Did you hire a company to demolish your house?” she asked, and Hodgson at first thought it was a bad joke.
The owner stood in front of piles of rubble
When she realized it was fatally serious, Hodgson went to her home in suburban Atlanta, where she stood in front of a giant pile of rubble.
“Everything was in excellent condition”
The homeowner revealed to TV station Fox5Atlanta that she had barricaded the windows for safety reasons due to a long journey: “Otherwise we would have the grass mowed regularly. Everything was in excellent condition and certainly not dilapidated.”
Company: “We are working to resolve the error”
The neighbor had called in an acquaintance, who asked the foreman of the demolition company to show work papers. Lo and behold: wrong address! Hodgson is now demanding an apology from the demolition company and “that everything is put back in order.” In other words, she either wants to rebuild her house or insists on financial compensation. A company spokesperson said: “We are working to correct the error.”
