About 80 FBI agents are helping authorities search for Robert Card, the prime suspect in the two shootings that claimed the lives of 18 people in the US town of Lewiston, Maine, on Wednesday evening, Republican Senator Susan Collins said at a news conference.
Meanwhile, The New York Times reports the presence of police at the suspect’s family farm in the town of Bowdoin, where four loud bangs that did not sound like gunshots were heard.
The suspect, a 40-year-old reserve soldier, is believed to be armed and dangerous, and locals have been asked to follow orders to take shelter.
Card is currently facing eight murder charges, as that is the number of victims already identified, but the number of charges is expected to equal the number of deaths.
