A pilot project on a part of the Tyroolean Inn Valley Autobahn A12 is supposed to make publications even more attractive. Certain buses can use the breakdown strip in the case of a traffic jam. But there are also limitations.
If you will soon be stuck to the car by car on the Inn Valley Autobahn between Zirl-East and Innsbruck-West (in the direction of travel in Innsbruck) and will be overtaken in the failure strip by a bus. Last year a separate public road was tested during the renovation work in the section. “The test was very positive and made the next step possible,” says Asfinag -Balans. Now there is a two -year pilot project from the Midden -Urril.
Permission only during peak times
This stipulates that in the case of a traffic jam, the buses of public transport can run along the malfunction. However, there are some restrictions: excluding buses with a permission from the country can use the Breakdown strips – and only in the period between 5.30 am and 9 am from Monday to Friday. The bus drivers need their own training. And the use is only permitted if it makes the circumstances possible.
“The Rescue Alley in the case of a traffic jam remains mandatory,” emphasizes Asfinag. According to LR René Zumtobel and VVT director Alexander Jug: “Passengers get their destination faster on peak times. This makes the public even more attractive”.
