Unknowns caused an explosion in a Viennese courtyard on Wednesday evening: they threw a pyrotechnic object into a ventilation shaft. It exploded and damaged the wall of the house. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Around 7 p.m. an explosion took place in the courtyard of the apartment building in Floridsdorf. A witness alerted the police. In addition to officers from the Floridsdorf city police command, specially trained bodies with knowledge of explosives also arrived.
The Vienna State Criminal Investigation Department has taken over the investigation on suspicion of serious damage to property and a threat to physical safety.
Halloween: police warn
On the occasion of the upcoming Halloween night, the Vienna police inform that so-called ‘harmless pranks’, such as defacing house walls or destroying objects with pyrotechnics, constitute material damage and that consistent action will be taken in such cases.
It has been announced that the Viennese police will be increasingly deployed on Halloween to ensure public peace, order and safety this night as well. Guardians are asked to have an illuminating conversation with their children and young people.
