A spectacular rescue operation is currently underway at Dachstein-Krippenstein: two gondolas have to be evacuated because they have been paralyzed by a technical defect.
The 20 people in the gondolas also imagined the trip to the Dachstein on a sunny Sunday differently. According to the first information, there was a technical defect on the third part of the cable car in the afternoon.
Two gondolas have been affected and are currently being evacuated by rescuers. In one there are 17 guests and in one there is a guest and an accompanying person – that’s 20 prisoners. Everyone must remain unharmed. Management and mountain rescue work together. In this emergency situation, the gondolas have their own equipment that can be used to lift those affected down.
The mountain railway employees in the gondolas explain the procedure to the guests, calm them down and support the rescue operation.
For guests who stay in the hiking area in the third part, a shuttle service to the mountain station of the Dachstein Krippenstein Bahn is organized – from there the further descent with the first two parts of the Dachstein Krippenstein Bahn is possible. Peter Grögler from the cable cars ensures that “every guest reaches the valley safely”. It is not known how many hikers from the Dachstein will still come to the cable car station, as the work was actually scheduled to last until 6 p.m. The cause of the defect is still unclear. Krone.at will continue to report as new information becomes available.
