Fortunately, a farmer in the Mühlviertel was able to reach the mobile phone and contact his son – he had fallen with a bale of hay just seconds earlier and was seriously injured.
The 69-year-old from Königswiesen wanted to roll down a bale of hay weighing around 200 kilograms from a pile in the hayloft of the riding school on Sunday around 3 p.m. He fell with the hay bale and became trapped.
The Mühlviertler was still able to communicate independently with his son via his mobile phone. He freed his father and started the rescue chain. After initial treatment, the 69-year-old was flown to the accident hospital in Linz with the rescue helicopter “Christophorus 10”.
