Christa P. (54) is away from Linz for two weeks – her family is desperately looking for her and preparing for “the worst”. Missing persons cases from the past show how close relief and sad certainty are.
“We already assume the worst. “We have to expect that…” – the family of Christa P. (54) from Linz is almost at the end of their hopes two weeks after her disappearance. “My mother never behaved like that. Even if she was away for two or three days, she always called,” says the daughter, who – like the mother of the missing person – always has her mobile phone at hand.
“She was not at home in her new apartment and only had a small backpack with her. She cannot go into hiding and does not have the money to do so. And she wouldn’t do that to us. Not her mother, not me and certainly not her grandchildren. “She has one heart and one soul,” the 25-year-old fears something has happened to her mother.
Stayed overnight with a friend
The police are now also very active and have taken a DNA sample from the daughter to compare the traces to see whether they come from Christa P. The apartment of an acquaintance, where the cook was taken on the night of October 14, was also ‘clean’. The woman from Linz, whose boyfriend is in custody, had spent the night there and had already disappeared when the acquaintance – the family does not know him – woke up in the morning.
Because Christa P. suffers from a serious thyroid condition, she urgently needs to take tablets, but they are in her daughter’s apartment. From there, she moved into her own home with three cats and her beloved Chihuahua-Pug mix and paid the deposit three days before disappearing. “There is no reason for her disappearance, everything just went well,” the family hopes for a happy ending.
Verlater spent a week in the car
That this can happen is evident from the case of a Schwanenstädter (33) who disappeared from home at Christmas. He showed up again after a week, had been in the car the whole time and needed “a break”. However, the search for a Natternbacher who disappeared when he left Linz came to a sad end. 47 days later, the body of the family’s father (42) was discovered in the Danube. He had fallen into the water.
