The fire has now been extinguished, as Asfinag announced on Saturday afternoon. However, the cleanup would take some time. Traffic is currently being diverted through the Wipptalerhof parking lots. “However, further closures are expected in the course of the salvage operation, especially towards the Brenner Pass,” it said.
It was initially unclear how long the remaining firefighting and clean-up work would take. Asfinag could not estimate exactly how long the delay would last.
