Murder alert in the Tyrolean lowlands: On Monday evening, the body of a 54-year-old local resident was discovered in an apartment in Fieberbrunn (Kitzbühel district). The deceased had stab wounds to the neck. A 45-year-old, who was also in the apartment, is strongly suspected of killing the man during an argument.
On Monday evening around 5:30 p.m., the police were alerted to the rescue operation. “The first patrol to arrive found a 54-year-old Austrian man in the apartment, lifeless with stab wounds in the neck,” the Tyrolean State Police said.
Acquaintance arrested in apartment
Also present in the apartment: a 45-year-old local resident who owns the apartment. He is strongly suspected of inflicting fatal injuries on the 54-year-old with a kitchen knife during an argument. The suspected perpetrator was arrested on the spot and is currently in the police detention center in Innsbruck.
Particularly explosive: As lead investigator Gert Hofmann describes to the ‘Krone’, the suspect’s parents discovered the dead man and immediately raised the alarm. Apparently they checked their son’s apartment after he didn’t show up for work. Then they encountered ‘this situation’.
Interview is not yet possible
It has not yet been possible to interrogate the suspect “due to a disability, probably caused by alcohol and/or addictive substances”, according to the researchers of the LKA Tirol. An investigation is planned for the afternoon.
Autopsy of body ordered
Investigators are still evaluating the evidence found at the crime scene. An autopsy on the body of the 54-year-old victim will take place later on Tuesday.
