Berrojalbiz released the accounts of the budget project and assured that the increase in income is supported by the economic forecasts for the year 2024, on which a collection budget of coordinated taxes that reach 9916.7 million euros, 5.8% more than the amount determined in the 2023 budget.

The provincial departments still have 59 million

The Provincial Council of Bizkaia will therefore have a departmental availability of 1,599.1 million euros in 2024, 3.8% more than in 2023, i.e. 58.6 million more than this year. The area with the largest budget will be Social Action, with 691.1 million, followed by Infrastructure and Territorial Development, with 243.1 million, and Transport, Mobility and Tourism, with 209.3 million.

In addition to the 2024 budget, the provincial government has allocated another 241 million euros, coming from the remainders and which will be implemented in the legislature, to develop the priority actions of the mandate plan, including strengthening social cohesion and territorial balance as strategic axes. , stimulate economic activity and employment, protect the environment, strengthen self-identity and improve services to citizens, as announced by Etxanobe.

640 euros per inhabitant in social expenditure

Social expenditure is the area that has the greatest weight in the budget project, as the Provincial Council will allocate 640 euros per inhabitant in 2024 to finance the care of dependent people, people with disabilities or minors, social inclusion and the protection of the most vulnerable groups. In total, these actions account for 737 million euros in budget items for the departments of Social Action and Employment, Social Cohesion and Equality.

The departmental distribution also highlights the weight of investments and expenditure aimed at strengthening the territorial balance (support for municipalities and regions, transport and infrastructure) and aimed at promoting economic activity and employment through through actions to support the sectors. talent, entrepreneurship and innovation.
