A large fire raged in an apartment complex and business premises in the center of Altenmarkt im Pongau on Tuesday afternoon. One person was seriously injured. About 110 emergency services from the fire brigade, Red Cross and police were present. Follow-up work continues.
On the market square in Altenmarkt (Pongau), the roof structure of an apartment and commercial building completely went up in flames. A kitchen fire raged on the top floor of the house, which was identified as the source of the fire. The exact cause of the fire is currently unknown.
Despite the quick intervention of the fire brigade and the initial extinguishing success, the fire spread through the partition walls of the building to the entire top floor. One person was also seriously injured. She was taken to Schwarzach Hospital by an emergency doctor.
The fire brigades of Altenmarkt, Bischofshofen, Radstadt and Flachau are currently in action at the major fire and fighting the flames. Special units and special equipment from the fire brigades of Bischofshofen, Filzmoos, Großarl, Kleinarl and St. Johann were also alerted.
