Police in Australia are searching for the body of a surfer believed to have been killed in a shark attack. “The man’s body has not yet been found and the search resumed this morning,” police in South Australia state said on Wednesday.
The 55-year-old surfer disappeared on Tuesday near the popular surfing area Granites Beach. He saw a shark “swimming and biting” and pulling the man underwater, with “blood everywhere”, a witness who saw the incident told local newspaper The Advertiser.
Shark was “as long as a limousine”
“I saw him in the wave and the shark had his body in his mouth – it was brutal,” he explained. After a few minutes, only the victim’s surfboard was visible. Another witness told ABC Television that the shark was “as long as a limousine.”
The coast of South Australia is known as the home of great white sharks. In May, a teacher was mauled to death by a shark about 75 miles from the site of Tuesday’s attack.
