Life is hard on the fringes of society. Zlatko from Styria knows that too. Caritas helps him find his way back to the center of life.
Spending time within your own four walls – what became torture for many in lockdown is Zlatko’s desire. How happy he would be if he could afford a small apartment at all.
Zlatko provides insight into his world
To fulfill this great wish, he works in a Caritas employment project to re-enter the regular world of work. “I got divorced in 1999 and I haven’t done anything since then,” Zlatko gives a glimpse into his world. It is an insight that gives an idea of how much his emotional world has suffered. Despite this, he is known in the Offline workshop as the man who is always ready to make jokes.
There is no sign of his loss when he takes up the whole room with his cordial demeanor. But the man with the cheeky mustache and mischievous grin knows the pitfalls of alcohol. He also knows all too well what it means to not have a roof over your head.
Colleagues appreciate his sense of humor
With a crying, but also with a smiling look, he talks about many low points in his life. In all that time, however, there was one thing he never let go of: his sense of humor. Colleagues appreciate it when it makes old furniture shine again. Zlatko’s latest creation: a blue armchair that almost competes with him to shine.
