A big bang in the case of the deceased 36-year-old, who was found covered in blood by his parents in his apartment in Itter (Kitzbühel district) in Tyrol on Tuesday evening. During the course of the investigation, the police were able to track down and arrest a Polish suspect.
“Based on information from witnesses, interviews and extensive investigation by the LKA, the 30-year-old Pole was identified as an urgent suspect as part of the personal checks,” the State Criminal Investigation Department said on Friday afternoon.
Murder suspect taken to jail
The alleged perpetrator was arrested on behalf of the Innsbruck public prosecutor’s office and questioned about the allegations. The 30-year-old suspect has now been transferred to prison.
Confusing information when interrogated
According to Hansjörg Mayr, spokesperson for the Innsbruck Public Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect provided information during the interrogation that was sometimes “very confusing”. However, these could indicate that the suspect is the perpetrator.
Now the psychological state of the suspect must be clarified. The Public Prosecution Service therefore initially requested detention in a forensic therapeutic center. The court will probably only decide on this on Sunday.
Discovered dead by own parents
The 36-year-old’s body was found in the apartment in Itter on Tuesday evening. Particularly tragic: her own parents discovered their deceased son in the kitchen. “After returning from vacation,” as lead researcher Gert Hofmann described it to the “Krone” at the time.
“Major attack on the neck”
The autopsy of the body was performed Wednesday and essentially confirmed what investigators had assumed after the body was found at the crime scene. It was foul play. “By a massive attack on the neck,” it was said on the holiday.
