The in-laws of Scottish Prime Minister Humza Yousaf (38) were able to leave the Gaza Strip. The Prime Minister announced this on the X platform (formerly Twitter). “While we feel deep personal relief, we are deeply saddened by the continued suffering of the people of Gaza,” Yousaf continued.
His wife Nadia El-Nakla’s parents had traveled to Gaza to visit relatives and became trapped there following Hamas’s terrorist attack on Israel and Israel’s subsequent military operation. The past four weeks have been a ‘nightmare’. Yousaf’s in-laws were able to leave the area near the Rafah border crossing on Friday morning. According to the British media, a total of one hundred Britons should be able to leave the country that day.

The family is grateful for all the messages and prayers that have reached them from all over the world. “While we feel deep personal relief, we are deeply saddened by the continued suffering of the people of Gaza,” Yousaf continued. They would continue to raise their voices for the suffering of the innocent people in Gaza and Israel.
“Collective punishment”
The Scottish leader reiterated his call for an immediate ceasefire and a humanitarian corridor “so that significant amounts of aid, including fuel, can reach a population that has been collectively punished for far too long.” He also called for the release of all hostages. The 38-year-old is a politician from the Scottish Independence Party (SNP). He has only been Prime Minister since last spring.
