A dispute in the Gailtal between a man from Hermagor, his girlfriend and her cousin escalated completely on Saturday evening. The young man doused himself with a gasoline mixture and threatened to set himself on fire.
The wild argument with his 17-year-old girlfriend and her 16-year-old cousin broke out around 3:30 am on Saturday in the young Hermagorer’s apartment. “Suddenly the 20-year-old doused himself with a gasoline mixture and threatened to set himself on fire,” said a police officer.

The 16-year-old then ran out of the apartment and a short time later met police officers who happened to be passing by and described the incident to them. While the officers intervened, the man from Hermagor threatened to kill his girlfriend’s father by telephone.
At that point, the 20-year-old had already destroyed part of the apartment. “Despite a weapons ban against the man, a blank pistol and associated ammunition were found and seized,” a police officer said.
The man from Hermagor was arrested and taken to the local police station. The 20-year-old was released on the orders of the Klagenfurt Public Prosecutor’s Office. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
