“Confusing statements” – Bloody crime in Tyrol: Persistent guesswork about the motive for the crime

Date:

Why did this horrific act of blood happen? In the case of the murdered 36-year-old, who was found covered in blood by his parents on Tuesday evening in his apartment in the Tyrolean Itter (Kitzbühel district), investigators and the Public Prosecution Service are still confused about the motive. The arrested suspect only provided ‘confusing information’.

The alleged perpetrator – a 30-year-old Pole – has not been interrogated again, Hansjörg Mayr, spokesman for the Innsbruck public prosecutor’s office, told the ‘Krone’ on Saturday. There is still no evidence of a motive for the crime and no confession.

“Psychologically disturbing condition”
As reported, the suspect provided information during the first interrogation that was sometimes “very confusing”. According to the Public Prosecution Service, these would indicate that the suspect is the perpetrator. Moreover, he was in a “mentally abnormal state” when he was interrogated.

The court will decide on Sunday
This is precisely the reason that the Public Prosecution Service has not submitted a request for pre-trial detention. Instead, a request was initially made to detain him in a forensic therapeutic center. The court is expected to make a ruling on this on Sunday.

The alleged perpetrator and the victim knew each other and according to witness statements there had been frequent ‘conflict situations’ recently.

Discovered dead by own parents
The 36-year-old’s body was found in the apartment in Itter on Tuesday evening. Particularly tragic: her own parents discovered their deceased son in the kitchen. “After returning from vacation,” as lead researcher Gert Hofmann described it to the “Krone” at the time.

According to the autopsy results, the man was killed by a massive strike to the neck.
