Environmentally friendly and fuel efficient? The same cannot be said of the company vehicle fleet of the Tyrolean state government. The Greens also show no mercy when it comes to the environment.
The facts about the state government’s commercial vehicle fleet speak for themselves, and they are not green. Powerful vehicles from German premium manufacturers are used everywhere.
Environmental fighters not a role model
Deputy Governor plays a special role in this. Ingrid Felipe a. In the course of the inflation debate in the most recent state parliament, she said with regard to savings options: “Off the gas! Drive a little slower, you save energy, you save money and the environment!” But now the green environmental fighter drives a new (model year 2021) Audi A6 with a 250 kW (339 hp) V6 engine as a commercial vehicle, which is loud data sheet in combined traffic almost ten liters (!) of drink! always 180 kW (244 hp), it is the weakest in the field and one of the two oldest, built in 19. The Mercedes of Governor Platter, Governor Mattle and Deputy Governor Josef Geisler each have 367 hp with their top engines.
Climate debate or not, government drives ‘fossil’
But why isn’t there a single electric car in the fleet? “Due to the lack of suitable vehicles on the market for electric vehicles with a correspondingly long range and reasonable prices, some ‘mild hybrid vehicles’ were purchased, with the possible alternatives such as pure electric vehicles being examined very specifically. Once a vehicle meets the meets the requirements and seems reasonable in cost, it must be purchased,” said State Councilor Johannes Tratter in response to the investigation.
No sign of the switch
The details of the vehicle purchase prompted a request from List Fritz. “Although the company cars are changed every year – last year there were six – the black and green Platter government does not indicate the switch!”, criticizes List Fritz Club chairman Markus Sint, Member of Parliament. He is most annoyed by the Greens: “If they are not members of the Greens government, who should rely on electric cars and act as role models? Advising Tyroleans to switch to e-cars and public transport, but not setting a positive example for the government fleet shows the hypocrisy of the Greens.”
The number of e-cars will be expanded in the future
The office of the Tyrolean state government has a total of 347 commercial vehicles at its disposal, of which 22 are currently electric cars, with the expansion of the e-vehicle fleet being a clearly defined goal, as State Councilor Johannes Tratter emphasized in his reply. 40 percent of new commercial vehicle purchases in 2022 will be electric vehicles.
