Home purchases will decline by 25% in the BAC and by 17.6% in Navarra in September 2023

Euskadi is the community in the Spanish state where house sales are the lowest, ahead of Catalonia (21.9%), the Balearic Islands (19.3%), the Canary Islands (19%), Madrid (17.9%) and Navarre (17.6%). In turn, Navarra is the leader in the decline in mortgage lending.

Purchase and sale of homes in the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV) decreased by 25.9% September, the largest in the Spanish state, while mortgage lending rose by 26.2% and prices by 2.3%, the notaries said. To Navarrethe purchase and sale of homes fell by 17.6% and the granting of mortgages by 39.1%.

In the whole of Spanish statesales and purchases of housing fell by 15% in September, while mortgage lending fell by 22.6%, a decline that was moderate compared to that of a month earlier, in a context marked by the impact of the successive interest rate increases and the increase in financing costs, according to notaries. Both transactions and mortgages softened the decline compared to August, when they fell by more than 17% and almost 27% respectively.

The home sales fell in 15 communities and the largest declines, more than 20%, were recorded in the BAC (25.9%)Catalonia (21.9%), Balearic Islands (19.3%), Canary Islands (19%), Madrid (17.9%) and Navarre (17.6%).

Mortgage loans for the purchase of a home fell by 22.6% year on year, to 20,120 transactions, and their average amount fell by 6% to 143,926 euros.

The further decline in mortgage lending they gave in Navarre (39.1%)Asturias (36%), La Rioja (34.5%), Catalonia (33.4%), Balearic Islands (28.4%), Basque Autonomous Community (26.2%) and Andalusia (23%).
