A 31-year-old Syrian stabbed a colleague in the Bregenzerwald. He was now tried for attempted murder at the Feldkirch Regional Court.
It happened on the night of January 7 to 8 in the employee accommodation of your hotel. The 31-year-old assistant cook shared the building with the later victim, a 48-year-old Nigerian and a Turkish colleague. Both men approached the woman. But she refused. Nevertheless, she maintained a friendly relationship with the later victim.
A hug with bloody consequences
That was too much for the 31-year-old Syrian. Because he doesn’t like the fact that the Muslim woman is in his ‘competitor’s room’, he kicks in his door that evening. As the woman escapes the room and hides under the stairs, the situation upstairs escalates. “He came to me and said we were brothers, that he was sorry about the door and that he would fix it,” the 48-year-old said. “I said, I forgive you. Then he hugged me and stabbed me. “At first he didn’t even feel the sting. Only when the Syrian said he had stabbed him did he look. “It was all covered in blood. My intestines were leaking!” the victim remembers.
While the perpetrator escapes, the victim drags himself to the taxi stand in front of the house. There, a driver responded with presence of mind and rushed the seriously injured man to the hospital. During emergency surgery, doctors managed to save the man’s life. The Syrian is arrested at the accommodation. The murder weapon was found in a stream.
The suspect felt threatened
During the trial, the suspect pleads not guilty. Claims he felt threatened by the victim, who armed himself with two ski poles at the time. So he waved the knife in front of him. His goal was simply to injure his arm so he would let go of the ski poles. He didn’t remember being stabbed in the stomach. “Maybe he came across the knife.” The trial continues on December 18. Then the verdict should also be delivered.
