The earthquake in the Moluccas had a magnitude of 6.6, according to the American Earthquake Observatory USGS. It was recorded off Halmahera Island at a depth of 33 kilometers.
Aftershocks possible
No injuries or property damage were initially reported and the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there was no risk of a tsunami. The Indonesian Geophysics Authority warned the population of possible aftershocks.
More than two weeks ago, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 occurred off the coast of the Indonesian island of Java. Several buildings were damaged.
