Based on current forecasts, GeoSphere Austria is issuing a snow weather warning (alert level “orange”, level 3 of 4) for today, Tuesday evening, until tomorrow, Wednesday afternoon. “According to current weather models, the snowfall line drops to 700 to 1,000 meters at night,” the country said in a statement.
More than half a meter of fresh snow possible on the mountain
The main affected area is the main ridge area between the posterior Ötztal and the posterior Tuxertal. Snow amounts of up to 60 centimeters are expected there. Precipitation is expected to decrease significantly on Wednesday afternoon and decrease in the evening.
20 to 40 centimeters of fresh snow in the valley areas

In the rest of the country, the sun will mainly shine on Tuesday. However, on Wednesday the early summer weather will be overshadowed by a temperature drop of ten degrees. Heavy rain is expected to fall from Vorarlberg to Salzburg in the morning, sometimes heavy along the main Alpine ridge. In the afternoon the rain clouds disappear again. It is expected to be warmer again on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with sunshine everywhere in the country.
