A serious accident took place in Hermagor (Carinthia) on Sunday. While handling a grave lamp, an 85-year-old spilled burning oil.
“At 11:15 a.m., an 85-year-old man from the Hermagor district wanted to light a tomb lamp filled with lamp oil in the living area of his house. He spilled some of the burning lamp oil on his body and caused severe burns,” police said.
Desperate attempts to put it out in the shower
The man desperately tried to put out the fire on his body in the shower himself. However, he only partially succeeded. “His brother, who was in the next room and was notified of the accident by the sound of the house dog, immediately alerted rescue services.”
The injured person was flown to the Klagenfurt clinic by the team of the rescue helicopter RK1 after first aid from the A&E doctor and rescue brigade.
