Apartment fire in Linz – firefighters found unconscious man in stairwell

When the fire brigade arrived at Hummelhofstraße in Linz, flames were already blazing from the first floor of a residential building. Firefighters found an unconscious man in the stairwell.

Dramatic situation in an apartment fire in Linzer Bindermichl: At 11:20 p.m., a witness reported an apartment fire in an apartment building on Sunday evening via an emergency call. When the fire brigade arrived, the apartments on the first floor were already ablaze. Due to the heavy smoke development, it was not possible to enter the stairwell.

24 residents evacuated
24 residents had to be evacuated by the professional fire brigade Linz. Emergency services found an unconscious man in the stairwell. He was rescued and taken to hospital with two other people suspected of smoke inhalation. LINZ AG provided a bus as a collection vehicle.

Cause of fire unknown
The apartment where the fire broke out was empty. Eight other apartments are currently uninhabitable due to heavy damage, and there was also significant damage to the facade of the house. The cause of the fire has not yet been clarified.
